MY ROOTS AND BRANCHES:
UK TO CANADA
UK TO CANADA
Eleanor J. Sibbert
I am researching both my maternal and paternal family trees; the roots and branches of CAMBOURNE, CAMPBELL, EATON, HEACOCK, HOLLINGSHEAD, RUSTON, and all the little twigs I've discovered along the way!
A very special hello to those visiting from the King Township Historical Society, and to my old and new friends in Kettleby.
Congratulations on the completion of the King Township Archives Project. The King Township Archives can be accessed at the King City Branch of the King Township Public Library.
The Village of Kettleby, Ontario
I am attempting to research the original settlers of Kettleby, Ontario, Canada. You will find Kettleby in King Township, York Region, (formerly York County), nestled between Jane Street and Keele Street, north of Toronto. Please visit the Kettleby page and see if you recognize any of the village-related names from the early 1900's. If you have anecdotes or memories to share, please let me know.
Plan to visit the Kettleby Fall Fair, held every year, the Saturday after Labour Day.
This year, the 33rd edition was held Saturday, September 10, 2011.
Visit the Kettleby Village Website at www.village.kettleby.on.ca
For an entire list of King Township events, visit the King Chamber of Commerce site.
If you can't get to King Township, view the wonderful photography of my favourite: Andrea Kollo.
Her website is a tour of everything that's beautiful and historical in the township. You might even find a picture of your ancestral home! Visit Springhill Photography at www.springhill-photography.com
Please be aware that although I have attempted to be accurate with information on this site, mistakes do occur. So know that it was done unintentionally and consider this site a resource, not gospel!
Happy Hunting.

"During your life, everything you do and everyone you meet rubs off in some way. Some bit of everything you experience stays with everyone you’ve ever known, and nothing is lost. That’s what’s eternal, these little specks of experience in a great, enormous river of life that has no end."...Harriet Doerr

I would like to thank the following people for their support and contributions to my site:
- Bert Duclos, while not born in Kettleby, has a passion for the village of someone who was.
- Jim Hunter, a relative of J. M. Walton, who provided me with copies of the Aurora Banner newspaper from his great-Uncle's files.
- Michael Eisen, a relative by marriage of the Gillham family who has provided me with pictures from the King City Cemetery.
- Jim McEachern, a friend, who travelled to Saskatchewan and took the time to find the Girvin Cemetery where my Great-grandparents are buried, and took several pictures of the gravestones and of the town of Craik and Girvin.
